I can’t believe a full year has passed already, but tomorrow is the first Sunday in September and that can only mean one thing; for my fourth consecutive year I will be down in Battersea Park….loitering…why? It’s the 20th Battersea Annual Reunion and Fun Day taking place this Sunday 7th September from 11am until 4.30pm. This free event will offer a whole host of family fun including dog classes and trick displays, the chance to show off your Staffies and maybe even spot a Battersea-supporting celebrity or two as well as some of the four-legged stars of ITV’s ‘Paul O’Grady’s: For the love of Dogs’. There will also be plenty of stalls to browse and tasty snacks to feast upon.

The event is open to all dog lovers, not just those who have rehomed a Battersea dog. Visitors can enter their canine companions into a range of competitions including Golden Oldie, Handsomest Dog and the hotly contested Best Battersea Dog.

While myself and my friends from Radio St Helier are keeping you entertained, we’re also going to be holding a tea party so we’re calling on all you budding bakers to bring along some sweet treats. This is also to celebrate the newest way for you to get involved with Battersea by holding your own fundraising tea party. Find out more here.

All the money raised from the event will go towards caring for the thousands of lost, abandoned and unwanted dogs and cats who come into the three Battersea Dogs centres every year in Battersea, Windsor and Brands Hatch.

Dog classes

Out of the many things that I will be presiding over on the day are the Doggie classes, open to all dogs of every shape and size, and there is no limit as to how many dogs you can enter – as long as that class isn’t full. Each class is £2 per dog. I’ll be hosting in the main ring, where there will be a total of 150 entrants per class.
12.00 – 12.30: Golden Oldie
12.30 – 13.00: Prettiest Lady
14.00 – 14:30: Handsomest Dog
